This special issue of our monthly news story has been dedicated to Bernhard Vester, the pioneer representative of AFOS Foundation in Nigeria and Africa, who initiated and brought success to most of the foundation’s project in Nigeria.
Designed by AFOS Foundation and the Microfinance Learning and Development Centre (MLDC), the objective of the program was to facilitate knowledge transfer, future collaboration and partnerships between the stakeholders of the Nigerian Microfinance Platform (NMP) and best practice institutions in Europe.
The study which covered 40 consulting days included intensive engagements with
NAMB president and the Secretariat staff on organizational issues affecting the association as well as sector related topics, visits to selected Microfinance Banks, visit to the Central Bank of Nigeria, AFOS Foundation and participation in the activities of two Working Groups of the Nigerian MF Platform.
The Nigerian Microfinance Platform (NMP) holds bi-annual meetings to address issues of growth and development within the microfinance sector through its active six working groups. The NMP’s final meeting for year 2019, which held on September 19th in Abuja, marked the last meeting of the convener, Mrs. Tokunbo Martins, Director of Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as a regulator.
The Kenyan Women Microfinance Bank (KWMFB), is the largest Microfinance Bank in Kenya, serving more than 800,000 clients. FINCA Uganda offers financial literacy to all her clients. FINCA Impact Finance Network is made up of 20 microfinance and financial institutions that provides socially responsible financial services that enables low-income entrepreneurs and small business owners to invest in the future.
